12 Weeks!

I know I missed a week (sorry Mom!), but I managed to get a cold that the babies had and I have been even more tired than usual. Plus I was out of town when I turned 11 weeks, so I didn't even get around to taking a picture.

So, something I've learned during this pregnancy is that everyone and every book says the 2nd trimester starts at different points. Based on baby's development 2nd trimester starts at 12 weeks. Based on gestation it starts at 13weeks3days. I've also read 14 weeks. I've decided that I'm going to go right in the middle and consider myself in the 2nd trimester next week @13 weeks.

I also bought my first maternity clothes today. Old Navy was having a "secret sale" on their layering camis. So I went and stocked up on some larger sizes and got 5 of them for $10!
On my way home I found a yard sale and lucked into a pair of black dress pants and two casual shirts for $6. It's hard to be buying things now, knowing I have no idea how big I'll be, but I couldn't pass up the deal.

Here's my 12 week picture:

How far along? 12 weeks
Food cravings: Jimmy John's.... I might hurt someone for one
Biggest Change? Bloat has basically went away
Movement? Not yet...
What I'm looking forward to: Our vacation next week with my family
Baby's Milestones: Baby P is now about 2 1/2 inches long and is now able so swallow.

2nd Appointment

I had my 2nd appointment today. It was an interesting and slightly nervewrecking one at that. The doctor was running late so I spent my time reading the latest "Fit Pregnancy" magazine, which I loved...and will get getting more of!
When she finally came she wasted no time and looked for the heartbeat right away. She spent what felt like an eternity looking for the heartbeat, and we heard everything but. I was starting to have a panic attack. She gave up and then went and found the ultrasound machine. She found the baby right away and also saw the heartbeat. It was a little harder for me to see since the baby was moving, but she got good shot and I was finally able to see it beating away.
It's crazy how much baby has grown since our last ultrasound and we now have our very own alien baby instead of a blob!

This picture is really hard to see, so you'll have to see the picture in person. You can see Baby P's eye and he/she looks like they are sucking their thumb (it may be too early for that, but it sounds cuter than covering it's face, so I'm going with sucking it's thumb.)

Double Digits!!

Slowy but surely I'm making my way to the end of the 1st trimester. Double digits make me happy!

This week has been crazy, but mostly because I forgot my B-6 one day and experimented with it the next...I've found out that I do need B-6 and I must take it in the moring...lesson learned the hard way!

Here's my 10 week picture:

Here's an easier way for me to keep everyone updated week by week:

How far along? 10 weeks
Food cravings: Sugar cookies with icing
Biggest Change? Not fitting into shorts that fit me last week...had to break out the belly band
Movement? Not yet...
What I'm looking forward to: My appointment on Tuesday...I get to hear the heartbeat!!
My Milestones: Making it to double digits!
Baby's Milestones: Baby P is now a fetus and the size of a prune!

Gender....

I know this topic is a little early...but it's on my mind.

I have always thought I wanted to find out, but today I had this overwhelming feeling that I didn't want to know. I'm not sure where it came from, but I really don't want to know (at least for now, this feeling may or not change in the next 10 weeks). Everything we are going to register for will be gender neutral so we can use it again with our future children so finding out wouldn't make a difference. They only thing it would affect would be the nursery. I had always thought gender neutral things were hard to come by. So I told myself I would come home and look at some neutral options and I actually have a list of 8 or so that I really like.

Now here's the problem...Ryan wasn't so thrilled when I told him I didn't want to know. So he agreed he would think about it. So that's where we are. We have plenty of time to figure it out, but even I'm anxious to see what we decide!

9 Weeks!!

I already posted what baby looks like at 9 weeks, but here's what I look like:

The bloat is here to stay although some days are worse than others. The day after this picture was taken I looked like I was 6 months pregnant. It's funny how much it varies. I've also now invested in belly bands and these shorts which are a size bigger than normal to get me through the end of summer.

I've still had minor nausea and I'm still super tired, but it could be worse so I'm feeling pretty lucky.
I've also had the strangest craving so far, on Saturday. I woke up from a nap and wanted chili (the homemade kind) it was 90+ degrees outside and I thought Ryan might kill me. But being the wonderful man he is, he went to the store and made me chili....and it was soooo good =)

Only another week or so until I am ready to annouce to the world that we are expecting. I can't wait to share our news!!

Telling Our Parents...

We were out of town last week, and my parents are in town this week, so I haven't had much time to do any updating (or belly picture taking).

So, let's catch up!
Our families finally know! We told Ryan's parents before Lake Powell, and everyone is really excited. Including Taylor who thinks we're having a girl too. She is such a doll and spent all week asking me why the baby was making me sick and tired. She also had a little talk with the baby and told "her" that she shouldn't make me sick!

My parents came into town the day we got back from Lake Powell, after keeping the secret for 8 weeks, I couldn't wait any longer. We told them almost right away by showing them this picture:

This picture took a lot of time and a lot of help from Nikki, Brandon, and Ross and their great ideas on how to actually write it in the sand and how to pour the water.  Taylor is in the picture doing her favorite pose of the week (two thumbs up with a cheesy smile).

My parents were shocked! They had no idea it was coming! I'm not even sure it has really sank in yet, but I think they are liking the thought of being Grandma and Grandpa.

As for me, I'm feeling ok. Nausea has been around since day 1 of Lake Powell. Luckily, it's been coming and going and so far it hasn't been too bad. I'm still very tired and moody. I still have no patience (poor Ryan) and am easily annoyed by anyone or anything. The bloat is still here, and I'm not able to fit into my favorite jeans without using a rubberband for help. I can't wait until the bloat is gone and the belly grows!

Here's a picture of what baby looks like at nine weeks:

He or She is now the size of an olive and weighs just less than a penny. Although we won't find out what we are having for 10 more weeks our little one is starting to form male or female genitalia this week!
