I'm an bad blogger....

I didn't write a single post in August...seriously? I knew it had been awhile, but over a month? I seriously suck.
I spend most nights chasing after Brinley and filling cup and cup with water for tea parties :)
I've made the decision to get my act together and catch up, I know I'll regret it later if I don't.

So, for now here's a few pictures of my big girl until I can write 10 more posts :)

It's Been Awhile....

It's been a few weeks and I finally feel like I'm back in the blogging mood.
There is lots to catch up on!

We had an awesome trip to Lake Powell:

My sister Alli got engaged to Josh:

                                                                 Brinley's reaction :)

And last but not least.....We're going to DISNEY WORLD!!!!

We'll be visiting the Happiest Place on Earth next fall, November to be exact! I'm so excited  I can hardly stand it. I may or may not have already planned the whole trip :) It's been almost  6 years since I've been and much longer for Ryan. I can't wait to see the excitement on Brinley's face...it will be worth every.single penny :)
I've promised Ryan to use my couponing skills and knowledge to coupon our way to Disney and I can't wait to get started. With well over a year, I have no doubt we'll take an awesome trip for a fraction of the real life cost :)

My Sweet Hope....

Today is not going to go how I planned. Today was supposed to be the day I shared our pregnancy with the world. Today is the day that I was going to get congratulations and words of excitement. Today was supposed to be the day we could finally shout to the world that our sweet Brinley Grace was going to be a big sister. Today is not that day.

Today is a sad day, one I wasn’t sure I’d even want to share. However, this blog is about our family and two weeks ago we lost a member of our family. I found out I was pregnant the day before Mother’s Day. I was happy as can be spending Mother’s Day knowing I was the Mommy to two sweet babies. The next few weeks progressed as normal and were all very excited. On June 8th we had our first prenatal appointment where we got to see and hear our sweet baby’s heartbeat. It was a wonderful day and we were on cloud 9. Baby Hope was measuring a few days smaller than I thought I should be so our wonderful NP suggested we just come back in two weeks to take another look and get a firm due date. She wasn’t worried that the baby was measuring small since there are so many variables when measuring a baby and we were able to see a nice strong heartbeat. Since she wasn’t worried, we weren’t either.
I went home the next week and shared the news with even more family and friends. Everyone was so excited.

On June 21st we went to my second ultrasound. Ryan and Brinley were both there with me as we were excited to get another glimpse of our sweet baby. The second she turned on the screen I knew something was wrong. I could see the baby and I immediately noticed the lack of the sweet flicker of the tiny heartbeat. She looked around and magnified the sack, but then she said the words I already knew were coming… “I’m not seeing a heartbeat.” My heart stopped and it felt as though my whole world had just came crashing down. She got a second opinion but the verdict was the same. Both opinions seemed to think we had lost Hope just shortly after our first appointment. We had lost our sweet baby.

I had no signs of a miscarriage so we talked about our options. The next few hours and days were a constant struggle as I lived in miscarriage hell. After two failed cytotec doses I was finally able to get in for a D&C. I was a bundle of emotions. Fine one minute hysterical the next. Checking in for the procedure was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life. I made it through check in without crying but promptly broke into sobs when I returned to Ryan. There is something so wrong about checking in for a procedure that would soon end the one thing we wanted so badly. The procedure itself was quick and thankfully the recovery has been easy. I finally felt as though I had some closure and I’m now working on the rest of my emotions.

The support of my family and friends has been such an amazing blessing during this horrible time. Having others share their heartbreaking experiences helped me feel as though I wasn’t alone and that is what really helped me decide it was time to share. This is not something you want to go through alone and I knowing I had support was amazing.

Today is not the day I was expecting and I’m expecting a lot of that over the next 7 months leading up to my January 22nd due date. Today is the day I share with the world our sweet baby Hope….

Sweet Baby Hope with us for ~8 weeks, but always in our hearts....

Brinley's 1st Trip to Busch Stadium!

Brinley and I lucked into a week off last week, so we packed up and headed to see my family! While we were there we were lucky enough to have tickets to the Cardinals game. I was really excited to go and that we were able to bring Brinley to her very 1st game at Busch Stadium!

She did amazing! She was so intrigued by everything and everyone around us. She also enjoyed some ice cream and other snacks :)

Swim Lessons!

Brinley is very lucky to have wonderful opportunities to be around lots of water this summer. In just a few weeks we'll be in Lake Powell with Ryan's family and then in August we'll be visiting the Lake of the Ozarks with my family.
She's been swimming a few times, but I wanted to make sure she had plenty of exposure to the water so we wasn't scared when we go to Lake Powell.
We signed Brinley up for lessons with her cousin Devon and yesterday was our first class.
The water was freezing so Brinley wasn't too impressed. She whined a bit but we were able to stay in the water for the 30 minute class. Although we tried the swim exercises the teacher was wanting up to do, for the most part she stayed curled up in a ball shivering...poor baby!

16 Month Update...

I can't believe Brinley is 16 months old! She is growing in leaps and bounds everyday and I often just sit and stare at her :)

She's a walking, talking crazy toddler. She loves all things Daddy right now! Her favorite thing is to watch out the window for him to get home from work. She screams Daddy and then follows him around the house for the next 10 minutes happy as a clam :)

Here's just a quick list of a few of her favorite things at the moment:
-Doc Mcstuffins
-Rocks...she's obsessed
-going potty
-milk
-dancing to Wild Ones by Flo Rida
-repeating every word or sound she hears (including the leaf blower she heard the other day on our walk.)
-"driving" the car
-walking anywhere like a big girl
-"dipping" her food (especially in ketchup, sour cream and syrup)

Brinley's vocabulary is also growing and it's hilarious :) Her attempts at certain words make me laugh every time!
Here are a few of my current favorites:
-ti-terd (tired)
-wa-tit (wallet)
-pup-o (pillow)
-sick (chapstick)
-peas (please)
-Ry-nin (Ryan...it's cute as all get out but Ryan prefers Daddy :) )

She's also putting words together:
- get it
-find it
- I nite nite
-I sit

I can't believe how much she grows everyday!

Potty Princess

My sweet baby girl loves the potty :) She's been telling us when she was going for months now, but I didn't think she was old enough to potty train, and she still might not be, but she loves the potty.
Last weekend she told me "potty" so I ran her into the bathroom and within second of being on her potty she went! I couldn't believe it. Since then she's been going mulitple times a day both prompted and unprompted by us.
Who knows if this will stick around but I'll take what I can get for now...I'd love to be done buying diapers at 16 months :)

Tea party potty time :)
